I need everyone's opinion on the following poem.....
Jun. 6th, 2006 | 07:29 am
mood:
confused
Somehow, someway, I must win my best friend back today
They are lost in a malevolent world where demons of chaos, destruction, and deception reign supreme
I see the foul beings surround my friend on all sides obscuring truth and purity
Depression sends them into a whirlwind of turmoil
Self-doubt, worthlessness, and anger spew forth from a troubled mind as well as a faint, faint cry of "help."
At a loss as to what to do to aid my friend, I begin battling the unearthly creatures
Ground is gained foot by foot and then I am blasted back a thousand fold
My friend inching further and further into the darkness
The hope for our friendship to be reunited starts to dwindle.
The ray of hope flares anew as fleet-winged figures enter the fray
The hissing and screecheing of demons defeated created a most frightening din
As did the shattering of each chain link holding my dear friend captive under the dementors' control.
Before the demons were banished to the eternal fiery abyss, they convened for a last ditch onslaught
Thankfully the shining ones were stronger and the attack was stifled, the oppressors no more
My friend stood up, dazed and confused at the events transpired, staggered hesitantly to me, uncertain of my acceptance...
"Did all of this truly happen?" Yes.
"Were those creatures real?" More than you will ever know.
"Was I really that messed up?" Not by your choice alone.
"I'm sorry." I know. >tired smile< Everything is okay now.
I wrote the above poem a couple of weeks ago and have had conflicting opinions of it... Please let me know what you think... I promise you all that I can take constructive criticism... :)

Ren Faire Scottish Day
May. 6th, 2006 | 04:24 pm
I journeyed to the Ren faire today for the first time alone... The hubby decided not to go due to getting attacked by the migraine monster... It was great to hang out with TPT and listen to a couple of their sets and it was wonderful to see friends that I haven't seen since the Highland Games in October...
It was interesting to be at a happy place without people to walk around and bounce humor off of for the day... Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed myself but it is so much better to be surrounded by friends... Who knows, maybe it will work out better the next time...
On a good note, it was a bright beautiful day and there were many nice looking guys running about wearing kilts...

One more final and I am finished for the summer.....
May. 3rd, 2006 | 06:52 pm
I cannot wait to finish this semester.... Just one more final and I am done... Then comes the waiting game for a day or two on final grades... This semester was a lot tougher than the last due to the reading & studying load of one professor... I'll know not to take the idiot again...
I apologize to all who have had to put up with me lamenting about the above... Happier days will be arriving soon as I will have a whole summer to recover my much abused sanity...
I was in such a funk today... The kids were grouchy and one my nerves this morning (when aren't they lately), my clothes smelled of burnt toast and I had no time to change before leaving for work(my daughter tried to fix toast this morning and completely smoked out the house), and the fax machine or customers or combination of both were going completely bonkers today... I was totally overwhelmed with checking in orders and the phone system as was Linsay and Dana... We were one less in the department and the number one person in line for calls was constantly away from her desk, on DND, or a combo of both which makes calls hell for the number two person much less for the rest of us... It wasn't all bad today as we all tried to work together as a cohesive unit...
Well enough of my aggravated rambling... Gotta go clean house now, Yay...

Better late than never.... LOL

This past weekend was a blast for me... I had the opportunity to hang out with people that I hadn't in awhile and met others who I would like to hang out with more often in the future...
I had a lot of fun at the cookout mostly people watching at first and enjoying the nice cool day... The children were the most interesting to watch as they snookered adults into sparring with them and systematically began wearing each adult out... The little Templar Knights were absolutely adorable...
After leaving the cookout, We (Becca, Ashley, Miranda, & I) went to a party at Spring & Ian's home a mile down the road... I was thrilled to see Spring as I hadn't seen her in quite some time... They threw one hell of a party that included a May Pole dance(something that I had never witnessed live), music, fire dancing, food and beverages (quite yummy too, the hummus & salmon were divine), and lots of company.. A drunk Becca is a very interesting, silly, loving Becca... Lots of laughs, the puns ran rampant over everything, as well as an assorted amount of innuendos... It was truly awesome... I can't wait to begin LARPing again with all the folks I reconnecxted with and the new ones I want to know better...

This past weekend was a blast... I got the rare opportunity to hang out with people that I haven't seen in quite awhile and meet new people within the LARPing community...
I went to the cookout this past Saturday with Becca and Ashley full of excitement and a touch of anxiety... Honestly, I didn't know what to expect but I wasn't sure that I would be as readily accepted as I was... It was a great feeling to be back among a great group of people again, such a change from the wrestling world... I not only met a new hockey pal, several interesting characters, and other parents, I re-connected with a few old friends... It was great! I even got to show off a little bit with my (limited) weapons skills and help show Becca and Linsay the ropes so to speak... I knew my skills were pretty rusty but I didn't think they were as rusty as they turned out to be... I thoroughly enjoyed myself though...
The party after the cookout lead to meeting more people and seeing more old friends... It was a tremendous experience... Watching Becca and several others get rip-roaring drunk was absolutely a must see occasion... Spring and Ian hosted one hell of a party that included a May Pole (something I had never seen in life but only viewed on TV) occompanied by live music courtesy of Angie and Tara... I wish I had stayed longer, and I will next time...

A week to end all weeks....
Mar. 25th, 2006 | 05:57 pm
mood:
irritated
This past week has been a trying, emotional, sad, exciting week wrapped up in a strange little package...
Monday, we laid Matt's grandfather to rest to the mournful, haunting sound of a lone bagpiper on an overcast day well before the rain began...
Tuesday, I dealt with one of my wayward children who decided to misbehave on the school bus and get suspended causing me to be late for work two days running...
Wednesday, I informed two of my professors of my legitimate reason for being absent on Monday and turn in a paper late...
Thursday, I was offered my old job back in inside sales doing faxes with a nice pay raise... The irony in this situation is that after 5 months of working my butt off in my territory I was finally going to make commission this month... The upside to this is I get a larger desk again instead of (literally) a whole in the wall claustrophobic space and I don't have to deal with my former antagonist directly anymore... It's strange to have five people within a department who are actually excited that I am back and bosses that beg me to go back to my old job...
Friday, not much of anything other than fixing a quick dinner, chillin' with one of my best friends and my hubby, and trying to relax...
Today, well it started out pretty uneventful... Grocery run, house cleaning, truly mudane stuff... Then I find out that my professor gave me an F on my paper... Not only do I have to bust my a** harder than what I already am but I have to make a PERFECT score on the final exam to barely make a B.... lovely huh?
Sometimes I wonder if it is all worthwhile....
